3:00pm — 5:30pm Forest Classroom Work Party/Social

5:30pm — 7:00pm Potluck optional dinner with some catered.

Work Party Details: Princess Street Forest Classroom is needing some love and care to keep it accessible and growing in the right direction.. Actions to be taken:

Workparty/Social

1. Staking tree baskets to keep them from falling over over

2. Removing blackberry/morning glory/ivy,

3. Moving sandstone boulders for a seating gathering area

4. Wood chipping pathways and Garden Beds

5. Watering planted trees

6. Preparing Site for fall time tree planting.

Dinner: Bring a potluck dish if you can. There will be some catered food by Anne Nguyen. Shelby Drope, our neighbor and lead land steward volunteer is turning 40 July 29th, and we will celebrate his birthday at dinner time.

Who: This forest classroom is managed by Seed Neighbourhood Cooperative Volunteers, with contributions of the Nanaimo Forest School Cooperative, and Vancouver Island University Education students as well as the. Island Corridor Foundation and City of Nanaimo maintain the gravel trailway, and provides tree management support.
